As from 31st March 2009 all gas works must be carried out by a qualified Gas Safe Registered Installer. Landlords must provide an annual Landlord Certificate to ensure that all gas appliances are safe for use. If it's a gas fire, boiler or cooker it must have a valid certificate to ensure safe use of the appliance. Unvented systems (Non Gas) also need an annual safety check, to ensure all controls and safety valves are working correctly. Check with your home insurance company as any faults with these systems will not be covered without your annual service certificate.
